Should girls ask boys out?

I was looking through some so called 'controversial topics to discuss' and I was slightly confused when I discovered this one. I mean when has it ever been controversial for a girl to ask a guy out? We are no longer living in the 1950s!!!! I asked my boyfriend out , probably because I like to be in control and I hate it how we put so much pressure on guys to deliver! I have a friend who believes that guys should ALWAYS be the first to make a move. Her comments made me slightly angry because I knew the boy she was going out with was shy enough to begin with and it was obvious that he needed some encouragement! I mean personally I believe that girls should DEFINTELY be given the option to ask a boy out but I suppose it all comes down to what your comfortable with and how confident you are. However always remember if you are too afraid to make a move or ask him out that he is probably feeling the same as you are! If you are feeling espcially discouraged feel free to check your calender just to make sure that it says 2011 , instead of 1952.
